 Kebitigollewa Claymore Attack

A claymore mine attack at a bus carrying at least 100 civilians at Kongollawa in Anuradhapura around 7.30a.m on Thursday, 15 June 2006. Fifteen (15) school children proceeding to schools and a few pregnant women going for pre-natal care clinics were in the ill-fated state owned bus that was ripped in the claymore mine attack.

On the 08th of August 2006 Tuesday night a medical doctor his wife, two nurse and the driver of the ambulance were killed in a claymore mine detonated by SLA the LRRP a murderous group known as Deep Penetration Unit (DPU). This cruel killing took place at Pandaaraku'lam in the Nedungkea'ni, Oddisuddan main road in Nedungkea'ni A.G.A. division in the district of Vavuniyaa in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
 Poththuvil Muslims workers massacre

Ten Muslim workers who went Sunday to repair, RaattalKu'lam, a water tank, 9 km south of Poththuvil in Ampaa'rai district, were found butchered to death, Monday morning. One person was recovered with wounds and another person is reported missing. The dead bodies were brought to a Mosque. The massacre has taken place near a Special Task Force (STF) training camp near Yala National Park.

On Friday August 4, 1990 over three hundred Muslims, men and boys, were prostrate in prayer at the Meera Jumma Mosque, fifty yards from the Kandy Batticaloa Road. None of them were armed. It was seven twenty in the evening and the town of Kaaththaankudi was lit up. The prayers went on when there was a power cut throwing the mosque into darkness.

On 12 April 2007, Sinhala hoodlums attacked Tamil villageds and killed 19 in Trincomalee. 7 victims were Sinhalese civilians, 6 were Tamils and 2 Muslims. The bodies of another three Tamil persons, burnt alive inside a three-wheeler in Linganagar, were not in identifiable state.

Three civilians were killed and eleven injured inside the Vahari hospital complex where people had taken refuge from the Sri Lankan military artillery fire. Sri Lankan military has continued to fire artillery shells into Vaharai since noon on Monday 8 January 2007.

The number of civilians killed in yesterday’s shelling also rose to 22, taking the total civilian death toll over the two days to 41. On 09 December 2006, 15 civilians, including a 6-month-old baby, were feared killed and 41 wounded when SLA troopers fired artillery shells towards IDP camps in Vammivedduvaan and Paatcheanai. Four Sri Lankan Kfir bombers dropped 16 bombs in Puthukkudiyiruppu in Mullaithivu yesterday around 5.30pm. Three people, including one year old baby Thansika were killed and 16 others were injured.

On 29 August, Sri Lankan military claimed that it killed 16 “terrorists” at their Puvarasankulam Forward Defense Line (FDL) in Vavuniya. The military wanted to hand over the 16 bodies to the LTTE through ICRC and SLMM.

Four of the five dead men were going in a three wheeler after dropping a sick friends at his home. It was stopped for checking at an SLA checkpoint. The men were late taken near the SLA camp and were shot at close range. The fifth man was traveling on the bicycle was also taken away and shot. Their bodies were strewn 100 metres from the Puththoor SLA camp.

On 17 June at 7.00 am, four naval vessels belonging to the Sri Lankan Navy (SLN), intercepted and attacked LTTE naval vessels traveling in the seas of LTTE area. LTTE Sea Tigers retaliated and sunk three of the SLN naval vessels and damaged the fourth one. Twelve SLN personnel were killed and many more were injured.
